Leh: Deputy Commissioner Leh, Romil Singh Donk, and SSP Leh, Shruti Arora, paid a visit to the newly built Bridge Café in Shayok village, located in the Durbuk subdivision. The inspection was part of a broader field visit, joined by the SDM and Tehsildar of Durbuk, to assess the safety and structural soundness of the café.
During the visit, DC Leh instructed officials to carry out a detailed safety audit of the structure, directing the SDM and Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) to lead the assessment. A comprehensive report has been requested to ensure all aspects, including construction quality and structural integrity, are thoroughly reviewed.
To maintain transparency, the DC also stressed the importance of documenting the materials used in the café’s construction. A committee—comprising local officials and, eventually, Army representatives—is being formed to oversee the full safety evaluation.
Community concerns raised by the Namberdar and village representatives of Durbuk were also acknowledged, with assurances that they would be addressed in upcoming discussions.
The administration reaffirmed its commitment to public safety and responsible development in the region, especially in areas seeing increased tourism and local footfall.
