Deputy Commissioner Kargil on Monday reviewed the distribution of gratuitous relief to affected families under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and stressed the need for timely, transparent and efficient disbursement of relief assistance.
Chairing a meeting to assess the progress of relief measures, the Deputy Commissioner directed officials to ensure that benefits reach eligible families without delay. He emphasized close coordination among all concerned departments to streamline the relief distribution process and address implementation challenges, if any.
The Deputy Commissioner also underscored that temporary restoration of essential services and infrastructure must be taken up on priority following any disaster. He stressed the need to strengthen preparedness and response mechanisms through effective mitigation, preventive measures and timely relief to minimise disaster impact.
The meeting witnessed participation from officers of multiple departments, including Public Works, Irrigation & Flood Control, Mechanical Engineering, Police, Revenue, Agriculture and Horticulture, along with other line departments. All Sub Divisional Magistrates and Tehsildars were also present during the review meeting.
The Deputy Commissioner further directed officials to maintain proper documentation, ensure thorough verification of cases and strictly follow prescribed SDRF guidelines while extending relief assistance to beneficiaries.
