Kargil: Deputy Commissioner and CEO of LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, IAS, chaired a review meeting on Monday to assess the progress of beautification and development initiatives for Bul Bul Bagh and Sher Bagh—two of Kargil town’s key recreational landmarks.
The meeting, held at the DC’s Office Chamber, brought together officials from multiple departments, including Executive Engineers of R&B and Kargil Development Authority (KDA), Executive Officer of the Municipal Committee, Divisional Forest Officer, Wildlife Warden, and representatives from Youth Services and Sports (DYSSO), SIDCO, and the Tourism Department.
The DC reviewed a range of ongoing and proposed projects aimed at enhancing public spaces, including construction of footpaths, installation of street lighting, activation of a sound and light show, development of foot bridges, and tree pruning within both parks.
To ensure timely completion, DC Rakesh Kumar directed all departments to expedite their respective works and maintain coordination to deliver quality outcomes. He stressed the importance of keeping these parks open and welcoming to the public, with improved amenities for recreation and relaxation.
In a forward-looking move, the Deputy Commissioner also instructed officials to conduct on-ground feasibility studies for introducing adventure activities such as wall climbing, to diversify the range of recreational options and boost tourism appeal.
The review reflects the administration’s commitment to creating vibrant and family-friendly public spaces in Kargil.
