NYOMA, JUNE 16: Deputy Commissioner, Changthang, Shri Nitish Rajora, IAS, on Tuesday visited the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Plant at Nyoma to review its functioning and assess the implementation of waste management measures in the region.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner inspected various sections of the facility and took stock of the waste collection, segregation, processing and disposal mechanisms currently in place. He also interacted with officials and plant staff to understand operational challenges and the overall efficiency of the waste management system.
Emphasising the importance of scientific waste management, DC Rajora highlighted the need to strengthen efforts aimed at preserving the fragile ecosystem of the Changthang region. He stressed that effective waste management plays a crucial role in maintaining environmental balance and promoting sustainable development.
The visit reflects the District Administration’s continued commitment towards implementing the Solid Waste Management Rules and enhancing environmental protection measures across the district. Efforts are underway to improve waste handling systems and encourage greater community participation in maintaining cleanliness and environmental sustainability.
Reaffirming its commitment to a cleaner and greener Changthang, the District Administration stated that awareness initiatives and waste management interventions will continue to be strengthened for the benefit of both residents and visitors.
