Leh, Feb 28: Chief Secretary Ashish Kundra on Friday chaired the UT-Level Sanctioning Committee meeting to approve Ladakh’s Annual Action Plan for 2026–27 under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana and Krishonnati Yojana, including components of the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture.
The consolidated plan covers Agriculture and Horticulture sectors with focus on ATMA, National Food Security and Nutrition Mission (Wheat), farm mechanisation, organic farming under Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana, Per Drop More Crop, Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanisation, and National Mission on Natural Farming.
Kundra stressed promotion of buckwheat and traditional Ladakhi wheat varieties to enhance farmer income and food security. He directed transparent selection of nursery land and called for a feasibility study on a digital agricultural market platform for Ladakh.
Highlighting Ladakh’s unique agro-climatic advantages, he pushed for scaling up high-value horticulture crops, medicinal plant cultivation under Sowa-Rigpa, and strengthening Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) to improve market access and economies of scale.
Senior officials from Agriculture, Horticulture and allied departments attended the meeting.
