Kargil, July 25: Chief Secretary of the Union Territory of Ladakh, Ashish Kundra, on Saturday held an interactive session with entrepreneurs from across Kargil district, discussing measures to strengthen the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and promote sustainable economic growth.
Entrepreneurs representing sectors such as apricot and Halman products, sea buckthorn, pashmina, handloom, handicrafts, wood and joinery, and allied industries shared their challenges related to skill development, market access, branding, funding, infrastructure and policy support.
Describing the interaction as constructive, Kundra stressed the need for regular engagement with sector-specific stakeholders to better understand their concerns and develop targeted solutions. He also encouraged entrepreneurs to strengthen cooperative systems to improve collective bargaining, access to government schemes and financial assistance, assuring that the issues raised would be addressed in a phased manner.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer, LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar (IAS) presented a proposal to establish a Tourism Experience and Interpretation Centre at the Tourist Facilitation Centre (TFC) in Kargil.
The proposed facility aims to create a modern, visitor-friendly centre featuring tourist information services, cultural interpretation galleries, spaces for showcasing local handicrafts and handloom products, and exhibition areas to promote Kargil’s rich heritage and tourism potential.
Appreciating the proposal, the Chief Secretary suggested inviting Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from experienced agencies to bring innovative ideas for the project, stating that the most suitable proposal could be taken up for implementation.
