Leh: Crisil Foundation successfully concluded an extensive community engagement initiative across all blocks of Leh district as part of the District Administration’s “Mimang-Si-sJabstogs – Administration at Your Doorstep” public outreach campaign.
Empanelled by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and funded under the DEA Fund & FIF NABARD, with support from State Bank of India (SBI), Crisil Foundation implemented the Moneywise Centre for Financial Literacy (CFL) Project under the supervision of the Lead District Manager. The initiative aimed to strengthen financial literacy, promote social security schemes, and enhance public awareness of government and banking services.
During the outreach programs, CFL staff, in collaboration with officials from banks and various line departments, engaged residents on topics including enrollment in insurance plans such as PMSBY and PMJJBY, pension schemes like APY and PM-SYM, and self-employment credit programs including PMEGP, MUDRA, and KCC loans. Sessions also focused on key financial literacy issues such as KYC documentation, grievance redressal through banking ombudsman, and cyber fraud prevention.
Area Manager Bilal Bhat highlighted the growing importance of financial awareness in today’s complex financial landscape, particularly in the context of rising cyber threats. Special sessions under the RBI’s “Apki Punji – Apka Adhikar (Your Money, Your Right)” campaign educated residents about unclaimed deposits, encouraging banks to proactively return funds to rightful claimants.
The initiative was conducted under the supervision of LDM Leh, Ms. Stanzin Dolkar, and coordinated by Kifayat Hussain, Manager CFL Project, Crisil Foundation. Leh hosts seven Moneywise CFL centres across blocks including Nyoma, Durbuk, Kharu, Leh, Khalsti, Singay Lalok, and Diskit, covering all 16 blocks of the district.
Since June 2022, Crisil Foundation has been active across all blocks of Ladakh, establishing a total of 13 CFL offices in Leh and Kargil to promote financial inclusion and literacy in all 31 blocks of the Union Territory, fulfilling the mandates of the RBI and NABARD.
