Kargil, March 6: A one-day workshop to strengthen credit outreach and financial awareness among Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) was held at the District Industries Centre (DIC) in Kargil under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Programme of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India.
Organised by the District Industries Centre (DIC) Kargil, the workshop was conducted as part of the LA-12 intervention to enhance engagement between entrepreneurs and banking institutions. Around 30 local MSME entrepreneurs, SHG members, and artisans from the handloom and handicraft sectors participated in the programme.
Functional Manager, DIC Kargil, Mudassir Rahowf Wani, welcomed the participants and delivered a presentation on the RAMP scheme. He highlighted various initiatives being implemented by the Industries Department to promote MSME growth in the region and stressed the importance of formal registration, financial discipline and institutional credit for strengthening the local entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Lead District Manager (LDM) Kargil, Tsering Morup, briefed participants about bank credit schemes and financial products available for MSMEs. He also explained the procedures, documentation requirements and the role of banks in supporting small businesses.
DDM, NABARD, Anub Tsetan Paljor, delivered a session on initiatives by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development to strengthen Self-Help Groups, cooperative institutions and rural enterprises through financial and capacity-building support.
During the workshop, Mohd Ali from the Ladakh Rural Livelihoods Mission also created awareness about schemes supporting SHGs and rural entrepreneurship in the region.
The programme concluded with an interactive session where participants raised queries related to loan procedures, GST compliance, documentation and MSME support schemes, which were addressed by the resource persons.
