Councillors, Coordinator JKPC Ladakh, Taisuru resident apprise public issues to LG Mishra

Leh: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) met Councillor, Upper Leh, Phuntsog Stanzin Tsepag, at Raj Niwas.

Tsepag requested for the LG’s intervention in the reconstruction and renovation of the Leh Nullah which was destroyed in the 2010 flash floods. 

He also requested for the LG’s intervention in the early completion of the Himalayan Culture Centre at Leh.

He further requested for introduction of public transport in Upper Leh and assistance in making Leh a single-use plastic-free district.

The LG assured to look into the matter.

Former Upper Leh Councillor, Ven Lobzang Nyantak, met the LG at Raj Niwas. Ven Nyantak requested for the creation of a Bhoti Language Development Board, introduce Bhoti language in all schools and colleges, create posts of Bhoti teachers in schools and colleges, use of Bhoti as the official language for communication, encourage the publishing of books in Bhoti language and conduct campaigns for promotion of Bhoti language.

The LG assured to look into the matter.

Coordinator, Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference UT Ladakh, Neyaz Ali, met HLG at Raj Niwas. Neyaz highlighted the issue of scarcity of water in Ladakh due to climate change and global warming.

 He requested to create an efficient and effective irrigation system by installing water-lift systems and irrigation canals where water can be lifted from the Indus River to irrigate the agricultural fields.

He also requested for development of rural areas of Ladakh with the involvement of local communities.

The LG assured to look into the matter.

Mohd Hassan, a resident of Taisuru block in Kargil, met the LG at Raj Niwas to apprise him of the issue faced in availing of building compensation. 

Hassan requested for the LG’s intervention in reassessing compensation for the land acquired for the construction of the NH-301 Kargil-Zanskar Highway.
