Leh: Connectivity was swiftly restored in the Kilima–Chilling sector of the Nimu–Padum–Darcha road in Ladakh after flash floods triggered landslides, snapping the vital link and leaving several locals and tourists stranded.
In a prompt overnight response on July 20, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) under Project Yojak launched a 50-foot Bailey Bridge at KM 92.40, successfully restoring the disrupted route.
The road, which serves as a key lifeline to the remote Zanskar region, was rendered impassable due to landslides caused by heavy rainfall and flooding. Thanks to the tireless efforts of BRO personnel, the bridge was installed overnight, ensuring quick re-establishment of essential road connectivity.
The rapid deployment not only rescued stranded individuals but also reinstated the flow of supplies and emergency services to the affected area. The local administration and travelers have lauded BRO’s swift action and dedication in the face of challenging terrain and weather.
This timely intervention once again highlights BRO’s crucial role in maintaining and restoring critical infrastructure across Ladakh’s difficult and disaster-prone zones.
