KARGIL: A day after he announced his decision to quit active politics, Kargil Congress has urged sitting councillor Syed Mohammad Shah to continue his services as Block Congress Committee’s Bhimbat President, in view of the upcoming 5th LAHDC Kargil Elections.

Syed Mohammad Shah on Thursday tendered his resignation from the party membership, as announced in a public notice.

District Congress Committee President Nasir Munshi reached out to Shah through a formal letter and urged him to continue his affiliation with the party as its Block President and solicited support for the upcoming 5th LAHDC Kargil Elections.

Nasir Munshi asserted that the party was yet to receive any official written communication regarding Shah’s resignation.

However, he underlined the importance of Shah’s experience, dedication, and support during the ongoing 5th LAHDC Kargil general elections.

The party believes that Shah’s long-standing association and commitment were crucial to the success of the contesting candidates, the letter said.

While expressing optimism about Shah’s continued involvement, Munshi urged Shah to reconsider his decision and recognize the role he plays in shaping both the party’s future and the region’s development.

Munshi emphasized the importance of unity and solidarity during these critical times.

On Thursday, while Shah had not quoted the reason behind his decision which crucially comes at a time when the grand old party is grappling with the ouster of several party leaders ahead of the upcoming 5th LAHDC Elections, he said he would not engage with any political party henceforth and would abstain from joining any political organization throughout his lifetime.

In a conversation with a local media outlet, Shah cited his inability to fulfill the promises he had made to the public.

Additionally, he emphasized that his role as a religious figure is incongruent with his involvement in politics, prompting his resignation.
