Leh: A condolence meeting was held at the Conference Hall of the Council Secretariat, LAHDC Leh, to mourn the passing of Dr. Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of India, a distinguished economist and visionary leader.
The meeting was attended by Executive Councillors Stanzin Chosphel and Ghulam Mehdi, Councillors, Chief Controller of Finance, and staff members of LAHDC Leh.
The attendees observed a minute of silence in honour of Dr. Singh’s remarkable life and legacy.
Executive Councillor Ghulam Mehdi expressed deep respect for Dr. Singh’s legacy, emphasizing his international stature as a renowned economist.
Mehdi recalled Dr. Singh’s contributions to India’s foreign policy and his leadership during his tenure.
He particularly highlighted Dr. Singh’s personal involvement in the relief efforts during the 2010 Ladakh floods.
During the meeting, Councillor Smanla Dorje Nurboo paid tribute to Dr. Singh, highlighting his immense contribution to India’s economic growth.
He praised Dr. Singh’s leadership during his tenure as Finance Minister and Prime Minister, noting that his policies were instrumental in shaping the nation’s economic landscape.
LAHDC Leh extends its deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and loved ones of Dr. Manmohan Singh, remembering him as a compassionate and visionary leader who played a pivotal role in India’s growth and global prominence.
