Kargil, December 27:
A Community Mobilisation Programme was organised at the Government Council Model Middle School, Gramthang Minjee, to strengthen public participation and promote awareness about quality education. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, parents, Village Education Committees (VECs) and local stakeholders.
The event was attended by Executive Councillors Kacho Mohd Feroz and Zakir Hussain, Administrative Secretary School Education UT Ladakh Bhanu Prabha (IAS), Deputy Commissioner and CEO LAHDC Kargil Rakesh Kumar (IAS), Councillor Khadim Hussain, along with senior officers of the Education Department.
During the programme, the school showcased its academic progress, co-curricular achievements and a remarkable rise in enrolment, reflecting growing public trust in government education institutions. The Village Education Committee submitted a memorandum seeking further strengthening of infrastructure, adequate staffing and additional developmental support.
Executive Councillor Kacho Mohd Feroz appreciated the local community for donating land for the school and described the sharp rise in enrolment as a positive indicator of confidence in government schools. Executive Councillor for Education Zakir Hussain highlighted the transformation of the institution after its upgradation to a Council Model School, crediting coordinated efforts of LAHDC Kargil, the District Administration and the School Education Department.
Addressing the gathering, Administrative Secretary Bhanu Prabha lauded the efforts of VECs and the school community for increasing enrolment from just 7 students to 112 in two years, assuring full support from the UT Administration for the school’s continued growth. Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar also praised parents and VEC members for prioritising education and assured that developmental works at the new school site would be taken up under suitable government schemes.
Councillor Khadim Hussain expressed gratitude to senior officials for their presence and highlighted infrastructure constraints at the current premises. He informed that a new school building is under construction under the Capex Budget and sought additional funding under the Special Development Package (SDP) for holistic campus development.
The programme concluded with a renewed commitment by all stakeholders to strengthen government schooling and ensure quality, inclusive education in the region.
