Leh: A large-scale cleanliness drive along the Indus River began today in Khaltse Sub Division as part of the LAHDC Leh’s district-wide campaign. The programme started with a briefing on the importance of the initiative, followed by the felicitation of SRMC workers and drivers for their dedicated service. They were honoured with traditional khatags and incentives from the Sub Divisional Administration.
The rally kicked off from the SDM Office, covering stretches of the Indus within Khaltse Sub Division. Teams comprising Army personnel, GREF staff, villagers, and local representatives were assigned specific areas, with the drive conducted simultaneously in every village.
SDM Khaltse Mohd Sharif urged participants to maintain cleanliness along the riverbanks year-round, calling it a shared responsibility. The event concluded with a collective pledge to protect the Indus River’s environment.
