Leh: Councillor of Chushul Constituency, Konchok Stanzin, concluded a four-day development tour across his constituency from July 19 to 22, covering all major villages and engaging directly with local communities.
The visit aimed to review the status of ongoing developmental works and to gather feedback from residents.
The tour began on July 19 at Chushul village, followed by visits to Barma, Kherapullu, Satoo, and Chibra on July 20. On July 21, the Councillor reached Maan, Merak, and Spangmik, and concluded his journey on July 22 with stops in Phobrang, Urgo, and Lukung.
Throughout the visit, Stanzin conducted on-site reviews of developmental works under schemes like the Vibrant Villages Programme, District Capex, and the Special Development Package being implemented by departments such as PWD and RDD.
He expressed satisfaction with the overall progress and assured villagers that remaining projects would be expedited.
During his interaction at Government High School Chushul, he participated in a Parent-Teacher-Student Meeting where local educators and the Village Education Committee raised concerns over staff shortages. The Councillor assured the gathering that these issues would be taken up with the relevant authorities to ensure swift redressal.
Reflecting on his decade-long tenure, Shri Stanzin highlighted the positive transformations in the constituency. Health sub-centres and PHCs have been upgraded with solar power and modern equipment, greatly enhancing access to healthcare in remote areas.
Educational institutions have also seen major improvements, with new infrastructure, smart classrooms, and scholarship support for deserving students.
He also underlined the remarkable expansion of digital connectivity across the region. In the past ten years, twelve BSNL towers, six Airtel towers, and two Jio towers have been installed, drastically improving mobile and internet services in one of Ladakh’s most remote constituencies.
Speaking to villagers, Stanzin shared his pride in the ongoing transformation across Chushul.
He noted how sports infrastructure has been developed in every Panchayat, craft centres have been set up to empower women’s groups, and clean energy solutions like 100-litre solar water heaters have reached nearly every household. Public utility projects, designed to improve everyday life and build resilience in the region, have also been rolled out widely.
Addressing villagers during the tour, Stanzin remarked, “This four-day constituency tour was not only about monitoring work but about listening to the people. Over the past ten years, we have witnessed real transformation — in roads, water, telecom, health, and education.
Chushul constituency is now a model of development in a sensitive border region. My commitment remains to ensure no village is left behind.”
The tour concluded with renewed public confidence in Stanzin’s leadership and his pledge to continue working tirelessly for the holistic development of Chushul constituency.
