Leh, June 17: In a major initiative to promote adventure tourism and responsible travel, Administrative Secretary, Tourism Department, UT Ladakh, Shri Sanjit Rodrigues (IAS) on Wednesday flagged off the Changthang Expedition 2026 from the iconic Shanti Stupa in Leh.

Organized in collaboration with Care My Tours, New Delhi, the expedition brings together a distinguished group of experienced riders on premium motorcycles, including BMW, Ducati, KTM and Honda, for a high-altitude journey through the breathtaking landscapes of the Changthang region.

Led by Mr. Preet Sharma, Director, Care My Tours, the expedition aims to showcase Ladakh’s pristine environment, rich cultural heritage and unique geography while promoting sustainable and eco-conscious tourism practices.

To ensure smooth logistics and rider safety across the challenging terrain, the expedition team is being supported by Toyota Hilux vehicles throughout the route.

Addressing the participants during the flag-off ceremony, Sanjit Rodrigues lauded such initiatives for strengthening Ladakh’s reputation as a premier global destination for adventure tourism. He urged riders to uphold the highest standards of safety, environmental responsibility and respect for local communities during their journey.

The Tourism Secretary emphasized the importance of preserving Ladakh’s fragile high-altitude ecosystems and wildlife habitats, noting that responsible tourism is essential for ensuring sustainable growth in the sector.

The expedition has also attracted participation from notable personalities from the fields of entertainment and photography. Among them is Bollywood actor Satyadeep Misra, known for his roles in No One Killed Jessica, P.O.W. – Bandi Yuddh Ke, Tandav and Mukhbir: The Story of a Spy. Organizers believe the involvement of such personalities will help amplify the message of responsible tourism and expand Ladakh’s global visibility.

As part of the expedition, participants will document and share their experiences through various digital platforms in collaboration with Ladakh Tourism, offering audiences around the world a glimpse of Ladakh’s stunning landscapes, vibrant culture and unique way of life.

Officials said the Changthang Expedition 2026 seeks to set new benchmarks in curated adventure tourism by combining exploration, storytelling and sustainability, while promoting one of the world’s most spectacular high-altitude destinations.
