Leh: Chairperson, UT Ladakh Haj Committee, Mohd Ali Majaz, called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at Raj Niwas Friday.

Majaz informed the LG about the orientation/training programme for intending Haj pilgrims from Leh district organised in Leh and Turtuk on May 8 and 9, respectively and the next orientation/training programme for intending Haj pilgrims from Kargil at Kargil on May 15, 2023.

He appreciated UT Administration for their assistance in providing clearance from the Vigilance Department and other concerned authorities for the issuance of passports for Haj pilgrims within a short period of time. He informed that a two-day Passport Seva camp was organised in Kargil for the convenience of the intending Haj pilgrims.

Majaz informed that earlier the intending Haj pilgrims from Ladakh were allocated some quota by the Haj Committee of J&K. However, this time more than 450 pilgrims from Ladakh are going on Haj pilgrimage, he also informed.

He raised the need to establish a Passport Seva Kendra at Kargil and organise Passport Seva Camp at Turtuk; the need for a vehicle for the members of the Haj Committee while conducting camps in different parts of Ladakh; the need to set up the office of Haj Committee at the earliest, etc.

The LG suggested the creation of these amenities on a need-based and event-proximity basis. He wished Haj pilgrims a safe journey and assured Shri Majaz of all possible assistance for the convenience of the Haj pilgrims.
