Leh, May 16: The Union Territory Administration of Ladakh on Friday commenced the second batch of a three-day training programme for enumerators and supervisors in connection with the upcoming Census 2027 at the DC Conference Hall, Leh.
The programme is being organised by the Office of the Census Charge Officer/Tehsildar Leh under the supervision of Attaullah Khan to familiarise field staff with the framework and operational procedures of Census 2027.
Field trainers Rahula and Zahir Ahmed conducted detailed sessions and presentations covering various aspects of the nationwide census exercise.
During the training, officials informed participants that Census 2027 will be conducted in two phases, with the first phase focusing on House Listing and Housing Census activities. Trainers highlighted the historical significance of the census and its role as a vital source of credible data for planning, governance and developmental programmes.
A major focus of the sessions remained on the shift towards digital data collection through the “Bring Your Own Device” (BYOD) system, under which enumerators and supervisors will use digital devices for field operations.
The trainers also explained technical and operational aspects of the census process, including definitions related to buildings, census houses and households. Detailed presentations and case studies were used to familiarise participants with the workflow and responsibilities of enumerators and supervisors during field operations.
Officials said the first batch of the training programme was conducted from May 13 to 15, while the second batch will continue from May 16 to 18, 2026, as part of preparations for the smooth conduct of Census 2027 in Leh district.
