Leh, May 05: Preparations for Census 2027 gathered momentum in Leh as a three-day training programme for Field Trainers and Technical Assistants under Phase-I of the House Listing and Housing Census (HLO) commenced today at the Conference Hall of the DC Office.
The training is being conducted under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner, Leh, and organized by the Office of the Principal Census Officer/Deputy Commissioner, Leh, in collaboration with the Directorate of Census Operations, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
The programme aims to equip participants with essential skills and technical know-how required for accurate house listing and housing census operations.
During the inaugural session, Assistant Director and Nodal Officer for UT Ladakh, Jatinder Kumar, along with Assistant Director and Master Trainer for Leh district, Ghulam Mohammad, delivered detailed presentations. Key focus areas included:
House Listing and Housing Census (HLO) framework
Identification of buildings and census houses
Accurate enumeration of households
Resource persons stressed the critical role of precise data collection and adherence to standard guidelines, while also briefing trainees on updated methodologies and field procedures to enhance efficiency and data quality.
The training programme will continue till May 7, 2026, marking an important step towards ensuring smooth and reliable Census 2027 operations in the region.
