Leh: CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson presided over the ‘Local Organic Food and Handicraft Exhibition’ organised by the Women’s Alliance of Ladakh, at their head office in Leh today. He also inaugurated the newly established Agricultural Product and local craft store of the Women’s Alliance at their head office.

President Women’s Alliance Ladakh, Tsering Chondol welcomed all the guests to the ceremonial function and spoke about the initiatives of the Women’s Alliance, one of the largest self-help groups stepping ahead in service of the Ladakhi society for a long period. She also highlighted the need to promote local agricultural products and stressed the need to eradicate social malpractices. She also expressed his gratitude to the Hill Council led by CEC Gyalson and Julley Ladakh for the assistance to the Women’s Alliance of Ladakh.
CEC Tashi Gyalson appreciated the Women Alliance’s efforts in promoting local food and local crafts through such initiatives. He also spoke at length about the social evils and stigmas revolving in the Ladakhi society and stressed the need to educate locals, especially the younger generation in overcoming such practices. Furthermore, CEC Gyalson sought assistance from NGOs and Self-Help groups in eradicating social stigmas and also malpractices in the region. He added that we should step together in sustainably developing Ladakh.
