Leh: Anjuman Moin-ul-Islam, the leading organization representing the Sunni community in Leh, has recommended Advocate Tashi Gyalson, the Chief Executive Councillor of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), for the prestigious National Communal Harmony Award.
The recommendation was formally submitted to the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, highlighting Advocate Gyalson’s exemplary role in fostering interfaith harmony, peace, and inclusive development in the region.
In the recommendation letter, Anjuman Moin-ul-Islam praised Advocate Gyalson’s visionary leadership, which has significantly contributed to the welfare of all communities in Leh-Ladakh, particularly the Sunni population. His governance model, rooted in compassion, inclusiveness, and dialogue, has strengthened trust and cooperation among diverse communities in this culturally rich and strategically sensitive region.
The organization emphasized that under his leadership, various developmental projects have been implemented with equal focus on education, healthcare, employment opportunities, and infrastructural growth while ensuring that minority voices are heard and respected. His efforts have been instrumental in addressing communal sensitivities, promoting peace, and building bridges between different social groups.
The letter further stated, “Advocate Tashi Gyalson’s consistent and tireless work in promoting communal harmony and nation-building reflects his commitment to fostering an environment of trust, cooperation, and development. His leadership is a beacon of unity and peace not only for Ladakh but for the entire nation.”
Anjuman Moin-ul-Islam urged the Ministry of Home Affairs to consider his name for the award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to strengthening bonds between communities and promoting social cohesion.
This recommendation is expected to bring attention to the role of regional leaders like Advocate Gyalson, who are working at the grassroots level to ensure peace, stability, and inclusive growth in areas where religious and cultural diversity is vast.
