
CEC Reviews Status of Centrally Sponsored Schemes under Power Sector in Leh
Leh: Chairman/CEC, Tashi Gyalson convened a meeting to review the progress of all centrally sponsored schemes under the Power Sector in Leh district Monday.
The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer PDD Ladakh, SE PDD Leh, Xen PDD Leh, Xen Project PDD, and officials and engineers of the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), and Rural Electrification Corporation Power Distribution Company Limited (RECPDCL).
While reviewing the status of all ongoing projects and schemes, CEC Gyalson expressed his displeasure over the delay in the completion of the projects under the Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP) in Leh district. He instructed the executing agencies to ensure the timely completion of the projects as per the contract timeline.
CEC Gyalson directed the concerned officials to constitute a joint inspection team comprising of the executing agency and PDD officials to monitor the execution and quality of the work. He also emphasised the importance of shifting the poles from the roadside in the Sku-Markha region to avoid any inconvenience to the commuters.
CEC Gyalson instructed the agencies to deploy adequate manpower to complete the project as per the timeline. He reiterated that the poor-performing contractors or agencies shall not be eligible for future contracts.
Furthermore, H’CEC directed the officials of PGCIL and REC to exercise utmost sensitivity in laying the transmission line to protect the aesthetic value of the landscape with the minimum use of plain areas.
CEC Gyalson also reviewed the status of the power transmission line to the Nubra region. The officials apprised him that the department has received clearance from the Wildlife Department for the execution of work, and the project would be completed soon.
