Leh: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson expressed his gratitude to the President of India, Prime Minister, Union Home Minister, and Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare for considering the request and addressing the longstanding issues and concerns of Medical Assistant/Pharmacists Diploma Holders by amending the Section 32-C of the Central Pharmacy Council Act, 1948 in the Parliament recently.

H’CEC also expressed his gratitude to the Lt. Governor of Ladakh, and Member Parliament Ladakh for their active roles in constantly following the matter with the Ministries for an early redressal of the issue.

The amendment of section 32-C of the Central Pharmacy Council Act, 1948 has provided these candidates with a one-year extension for one-time registration as pharmacists. This would further help all the Medical Assistant/Pharmacists Diploma Holders of Ladakh who were previously registered with the erstwhile Jammu & Kashmir Pharmacy Council, to register with Ladakh Pharmacy Council and to those who couldn’t register when the window for one time registration was expired on 31st December, 2020 where Ladakh Pharmacy Council wasn’t formed by that time. The amendment has open up opportunities for them to register again and pursue their career in Pharmacy and support their livelihood.

CEC Tashi Gyalson further hopes that the Ladakh Pharmacy Council will promptly initiate the registration process for these Medical Assistants/Pharmacists, enabling them to complete their registration within the specified timeframe.
