Leh: Chairman/CEC of LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, inaugurated a newly constructed Exhibition Hall at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Leh. He was accompanied by Deputy Chairman Tsering Angchuk and DC/CEO LAHDC Leh, Romil Singh Donk. Funded by the Hill Council, the new hall is envisioned as a dynamic space for exhibitions, student-led presentations, and interactive learning sessions.

As part of the occasion, 30 top-performing students from Classes 10 and 12 were awarded laptops under LAHDC Leh’s initiative to encourage academic excellence and enhance digital access for students.

The event witnessed the presence of Chief Education Officer Deldan Angmo, DPO Akeel Sajad, Executive Engineer REW Abbas Ali, Principal DIET Mirza Mehdi, along with heads of departments, engineers, teachers, students, and parents.

Welcoming the dignitaries, Principal Mirza Mehdi expressed gratitude to the Hill Council, especially the CEC and Deputy Chairman, for their unwavering support. He appreciated their efforts in ensuring the timely completion of the project and for recognizing students’ achievements through the laptop distribution.

Deputy Chairman Tsering Angchuk congratulated the award-winning students and commended the efforts of teachers and department heads at DIET. He emphasized the importance of preparing students for opportunities beyond Ladakh and acknowledged the steady improvements in the primary education sector.

In his address, CEC Tashi Gyalson congratulated the DIET team on the successful completion of the hall, calling it a significant addition to Leh’s educational infrastructure. He highlighted the importance of such spaces in nurturing creativity, collaboration, and innovation among students. The CEC also assured that the Council will extend full support in furnishing the new hall to make it fully functional.

Calling for a shift from routine planning practices, CEC Gyalson urged departmental heads to adopt more innovative and context-specific designs suited to Ladakh’s unique needs. “Funds are not the issue,” he stated, “what we need is proactive, imaginative, and impactful planning.”

Reaffirming the Council’s commitment to the education sector, the CEC reiterated that initiatives like this will continue to be prioritized to improve the quality of learning and student empowerment in Ladakh.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Chief Education Officer Deldan Angmo, who expressed her deep appreciation to the Hill Council for its continued dedication to strengthening the education system in the region.
