Kargil: CEC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, appreciated and hailed the efforts of Every Infant Matters, a non-governmental organization working to combat malnutrition and improve maternal and infant health in the region.
In a meeting held at his office chamber, Dr. Akhoon was briefed by Shikha, Regional Director of the NGO, about the organization’s ongoing work in the district over the past three years. She shared that Every Infant Matters has been distributing protein supplements to undernourished infants and mothers, addressing a critical health issue in remote communities.
Shikha also introduced the NGO’s innovative use of AI-based haemoglobin testing technology, which allows non-invasive, prick-free testing—particularly beneficial for mothers in rural areas where medical resources are limited.
Seeking deeper collaboration, Shikha requested logistical and administrative support from LAHDC Kargil to expand their outreach and impact.
Dr. Akhoon assured full cooperation from the Council and emphasized that support will be extended in coordination with the Health Department and relevant stakeholders to further strengthen the NGO’s initiatives across the district.
