Buddhist Community celebrates Tangpoi Chonga in Kargil

As the event of Tangpoi Chonga celebration remained central focus over the past few days among the Buddhist community of Kargil district, it was observed with overwhelming religious fervor and devotion. The entire sacred performances have been made under the supreme aegis of renown Khanpo Dorjey Phuntsog.

As per past practice, the event was conducted under the supervision of Shree Skarma Dadul, president Ladakh Buddhist Association Kargil Branch and his executive members and youth volunteers. An overwhelming number of monks, nuns and devotees gathered at Kargil Gonpa situated in the heart of kargil town. Different youth and women associations of the area extended immense support in organizing the event.

The entire administration of Kargil district extended their support in smooth conduct of the event like always. An extensive program has been followed commencing from offering Mandal to the Lama by the devotees under the guidance of the LBA Kargil Branch executive members.

Consecration of the Tarchen and prayer flags by Khanpo was followed by his teachings on Buddha Dharma, significance of the special place held by the first month of the Tibetan Lunar calendar “Chhos-Lda-Tangpo”. And also Congratulations on the auspicious occasion Shabi Barath of Muslim communities,s Brother and Sister, and also Holi of Hindus communities.
