In a bid to strengthen the backbone of India’s electoral machinery, a training programme for AEROs, BLO Supervisors, and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) of Diskit Tehsil was held today at the Conference Hall of the SDM Office Complex, Diskit, under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2025.
The session kicked off with an inspiring address by Toufil Iqbal, Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO), who lauded the pivotal role of BLOs in maintaining clean, transparent, and error-free electoral rolls. He urged the officers to act as “the eyes and ears of democracy,” ensuring that every eligible voter finds their rightful place on the roll.
During the workshop, participants were trained on critical components of the SIR process — voter verification, addition and deletion of names, correction of details, and new voter registration facilitation. The training also addressed field-level operational hurdles and offered hands-on guidance to improve accuracy and inclusivity in voter data management.
The session was conducted by SLMT Stanzin Spaldon and Sumera Kosar, witnessing active participation from 40 BLOs, 4 BLO Supervisors, and the AERO. The programme concluded with a lively interactive session where officers shared field experiences and sought clarifications on procedural aspects.
With SIR 2025 underway, the training reaffirmed the Election Department’s commitment to free, fair, and flawless electoral rolls — the true foundation of democracy.
