Leh: BJP Ladakh State President Tashi Gyaltson Khachu on behalf of BJP Ladakh has welcomed the UT Administration of Ladakh’s decision to reclassify Hotels, Guest Houses, Resorts and Homestays from the Commercial (Hotel/Resort) category to the Industrial category for electricity tariff purposes.
He thanked the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and the UT Administration for this important pro-tourism decision, which will reduce the electricity cost burden on the hospitality sector from September 1, 2026.
Khachu also congratulated the people of Ladakh and the tourism fraternity, saying the decision will provide much-needed support to tourism establishments, strengthen the local economy and create a more favourable environment for tourism and allied businesses across the UT.
He urged all eligible Hotels, Guest Houses, Resorts and Homestays to ensure their registration with the Tourism Department portal to avail the benefit.
