Leh: A delegation from Nubra led by Panamik Councillor and BJP District President, Tsering Sandup, met with Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson, to discuss the region’s development priorities.
The delegation, which included Councillor Kunzang Lotus, Vice President of BJP Nubra Tsering Phuntsog, and former Mandal Presidents Stanzin Wangdus and Phuntsog Dorjay, raised several important issues concerning the Nubra region. A long-standing demand for granting District Status to Nubra was emphasized to improve administrative efficiency. The delegation also sought a resolution to the Wildlife Sanctuary issue, which has been pending for four years, and urged for the early completion of the Phyang-Disket transmission line to ensure a stable power supply.
Other key requests included commercial civilian flights from Thoise Airport to improve connectivity and tourism, the construction of Shatse Taknak Bridge between Disket and Burma under the CIRF scheme, and the activation and strengthening of BSNL towers across Nubra Valley to improve mobile network and communication.
CEC Gyalson assured the delegation of full support, highlighting that a historic step has already been taken regarding the wildlife sanctuary issue. He confirmed that the boundary rationalisation proposal has been approved by the State Board for Wildlife and is being forwarded to the National Board for Wildlife for final approval. The CEC assured that the matter will be actively followed up for a timely resolution.
