Leh, July 31: Chief Secretary of Ladakh, Ashish Kundra, reviewed the proposed expansion of Thoise Airport on Friday, directing officials to expedite formalities and ensure close coordination for the timely execution of the strategically important project.
During his visit to Nubra district, Kundra assessed the land identified for the airport’s expansion and instructed the concerned departments to fast-track all pending processes. Stressing the need for efficient implementation, he ordered the constitution of a four-member team to prepare a comprehensive, step-by-step action plan for the project.
The Chief Secretary also inspected the airport runway and reviewed ongoing developmental works. Officials presented the proposed land transfer plan for the Civil Terminal through detailed maps, outlining the project’s layout and land requirements.
Reviewing passenger facilities, Kundra inspected the waiting area for Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) and their families, airline infrastructure, and security checkpoints. He directed officials to improve essential amenities, including washrooms, borewells for water supply, and other passenger facilities to enhance the overall travel experience.
The review was attended by senior officials, including Administrative Secretary Himanshu Gupta, Air Force Station Thoise Station Commander Pranay Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Nubra, SSP Nubra, and other departmental officers.
