Leh, April 20, 2026:
A one-day training program on sanitation and hygiene was successfully conducted at the Conference Hall of the DC Office, Leh. The program was organized in collaboration with Harpic World Toilet College, Reckitt, Jagraon Pehal, and Green Sparsh Foundation (NGO).
The initiative was facilitated under the guidance and support of Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Leh, Stanzin Rabgais, who played a key role in its successful आयोजन.
The program is part of the Harpic World Toilet College initiative, founded by Jack Sim in Singapore in 2018, aimed at improving sanitation standards and building skills globally. The initiative has been active in several Indian states since 2022 and was introduced in Ladakh through the Ladakh Heart Foundation, coordinated by Tenzin Motup.
Addressing the participants, EO MC Leh Stanzin Rabgais highlighted the importance of maintaining hygiene and stated that such initiatives are aimed at the welfare of sanitation workers. He emphasized the need for professional conduct, respectful public interaction, and regular health check-ups.
He also informed that staff quarters are being constructed at two locations with government support for sanitation workers. Appreciating the efforts of the organizing agencies, he urged participants to make proper use of distributed materials such as bottles and gloves.
The training focused on improving sanitation practices in institutions including Municipal Committees, hospitals, and hotels. A medical camp and a government schemes enrollment camp were also organized for sanitation workers.
The program witnessed active participation from sanitation workers of MC Leh.
