Backyard Birding Event organised for students

KARGIL: In an effort to promote wildlife awareness and conservation, Wildlife Department of Kargil, under the supervision of RO Ali Akbar, Sanko/Zanskar and RO Kargil Ghulam Hasnain and concerned officer, hosted a Backyard Birding Event today at Government Girls High School.

Forty students participated in the event, led by a dedicated Wildlife Team, guided by the expertise of Ornithologist Dr. Iqbal Ali Khan.

During the event students embarked on a trail walk where they received an opportunity to observe and identify the diverse avian species found in the Trans Himalayan region, particularly Ladakh.

Participants spotted seven different bird species and also witnessed a fascinating single mammal species.
