Leh: Avalanche warning has been issued in both district of Ladakh Union Territory for next 24 hours.
Avalanche warning has been issued in Kargil and Leh district advising people to not venture in avalanche prone areas.
And avalanche with unsafe conditions is likely to occur above 3000 metres over Kargil and in Leh district rare avalanche activity is possible with high external loading.

People living in these areas are advised to take precautions and avoid venturing in the avalanche prone areas.
The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Kargil said, “In view of a level-3 warning of an avalanche in Kargil as per the weather bulletin issued by the Defence Geoinformatics Research Establishment (DGRE), Chandigarh, valid from January 21, 2023 to January 22, 2023 and inclement weather conditions, the general public of Kargil district is advised to remain cautious and not to venture out in slopy/hilly areas and avalanche prone areas till the weather improves.”
Ladakh’s Leh and Kargil recorded a low of minus 15.0°C and minus 13.7°C respectively, a Meteorological Department official said.
