Leh: In a vibrant exchange of ideas and experiences, journalists from Assam and Ladakh came together in Leh for an interactive media meet organized by the Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR), UT Ladakh, in collaboration with Press Club Leh.
The visiting media delegation from Assam, led by Ms. Smita Saikia of the Press Information Bureau (PIB), was warmly welcomed with traditional khataks by DIPR and local journalists.
The 13-member Assam team, comprising PIB officials, digital media professionals, and a well-known YouTuber, is in Leh on an exposure tour that began on July 28. The session opened with remarks by Stanzin Wangmo, AE&CO, DIPR Leh, who reflected on the transformation of Ladakh—from its days as part of Jammu & Kashmir to its current status as a Union Territory. She emphasized the growing role of digital journalism and the evolving responsibilities of the press in the region.
A lively and insightful conversation followed, with journalists from both regions sharing views on media practices, regional cultures, and current socio-political issues. The exchange created a meaningful space for learning and understanding the diverse media landscapes of India.
The event was graced by members of the Press Club Leh, including President Morup Stanzin, General Secretary Rigzin Angmo, and member Tsewang Rigzin, alongside other local journalists and DIPR officials.
The meet not only fostered professional camaraderie but also laid the groundwork for potential future collaborations and continued dialogue between media communities from Assam and Ladakh.
