Kargil, December 18, 2025:
In continuation of the ongoing anti-encroachment अभियान and in compliance with the directions of the Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, the district administration on Thursday conducted an enforcement drive in various parts of Kargil town.
The drive covered areas from BSNL Crossing to Bus Stand Crossing, Silmoo Colony, Dak Banglow 1st, Old Tehsildar Quarter and Lower Chanchik Road.
The joint operation was carried out by the Naib Tehsildar Kargil, SHO Police Station Kargil, Municipal Committee Kargil and Traffic Police Kargil to remove unauthorized encroachments from public roads and footpaths, ensuring smooth traffic movement and pedestrian safety.
During the drive, several violators were penalized for encroaching upon public spaces, and a fine of Rs 3,500 was imposed in accordance with the rules.
The district administration urged shopkeepers and the general public to avoid encroachment on public land and cooperate with the authorities. It further stated that such enforcement drives will continue in the interest of public convenience, safety and maintenance of law and order in Kargil town.
