Leh: As part of the Month of Compassion, the Animal Husbandry Department, Leh, under its Animal Birth Control and Anti-Rabies (ABC&AR) program, successfully conducted a six-day sterilization and vaccination camp in the army areas of Nimo village from July 18 to July 24, 2025.
The initiative, held in collaboration with the Indian Army, resulted in the sterilization and anti-rabies vaccination of 256 stray dogs, including 173 males and 83 females. The program aimed to address the growing stray dog population and to prevent the spread of rabies in the region.
This targeted drive across military stations reflects the department’s commitment to public safety, animal welfare, and disease prevention, ensuring a healthier coexistence between humans and stray animals in Ladakh.
