All Religious Women Wing, Alamdar Health Service delegations call on Mishra

Leh: A delegation comprising members from women wings of different religious organisations led by Kunzes Dolma called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at Raj Niwas.

Kunzes raised several issues related to women in Ladakh, viz. the need to set up a women’s hostel/home in Ladakh for victims of domestic violence; the need to set up an adoption-cum-child cradle centre for babies born out of wedlock; the need to set up a drug de-addiction centre for the youth; the need to set up a mental asylum, especially for women; the need to pass the Ladakh Buddhist Succession Amendment Act; the need to resolve domestic violence cases on priority basis; the need to increase the number of members of the National Commission for Women and set up an office in Leh; reservation of 33 per cent seat for women in the LAHDC; the need to provide loans/soft loans at reduced interest rates by the banks; the need to simplify loan process for women; the need to exempt property certificate requirements for women entrepreneurs; the need to establish a permanent branch of J&K& Ladakh High Court at Leh; the need to establish a Family Court at Leh to expedite cases and disputes arising due to family problems; the need to constitute a committee for sexual assault at work place; the need to include non-governmental women representatives in UT-level committees; the need to reserve shops in all government complexes for destitute women, etc.

The LG assured to look into the matter.

A delegation comprising members of Alamdar Health Service led by Asgar Ali called on the LG at Raj Niwas.

Asgar informed the LG about the various blood donation initiatives taken by Alamdar Health Service, which is a branch of Anjuman Imamia’s Youth Wing, since 2003. He also informed LG about more than 3000 pints of blood donated by them to different hospitals. He further informed about blood donation camps organised by them during Muharram.

Asgar requested the LG for due recognition to Alamdar Health Service, the allotment of space to set up their office and also an ambulance to carry out blood donation camps, etc. The LG assured to look into the matter.
