ALGHA Delegation discuss issues of hoteliers’ community with CEC Tashi Gyalson

Leh: Chairman/CEC, Adv. Tashi Gyalson was called upon by a delegation headed by the President of All Ladakh Guest House and Hotels Association, Leh yesterday.
The delegation discussed various issues of the hoteliers’ community and submitted a memorandum to the Chairman for further consideration. The memorandum mentioned, framing of Ladakh-centric policies including building bye-laws and registration of Guest Houses and Hotels, relaxations on the Pollution Control board’s policies, the requirement of special policies for family-run guest houses and hotels having less than 18 rooms, relaxations and requirement of incentives/subsidies for hoteliers having 19 plus rooms to construct STPs within their premises, and several other issues.
In view of the rising demands for luxury homestays by clients, the delegation proposed the need to promote luxury homestays, especially in rural areas of Ladakh. They requested CEC Gyalson to provide assistance for establishing luxury-based homestays in rural areas similar to the existing homestay subsidy schemes of LAHDC Leh and UT Administration Ladakh. They added that this would help people of rural areas in strengthening their economy in this sector of the Tourism industry.
Giving a patient hearing to all the points raised before him by the delegation, CEC Gyalson assured them that he would take up the issues and concerns with LG Ladakh for further discussion and consideration. He further assured full assistance from the Hill Council, Leh in addressing the issues raised before him.
