Kargil, November 7, 2025: The Hon’ble Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today chaired a meeting of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS) at the District Hospital Kargil (DHK) to review its functioning, ongoing works, and future development plans.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kargil, Medical Superintendent DH Kargil, and other RKS governing body members, including Executive Engineers of R&B 2nd, PHE, PDD, and REW, Project Director KREDA, Project Officer ICDS, and the District Information Officer Kargil.
During the meeting, Dr. Akhoon conducted a comprehensive review of hospital operations and infrastructural needs. After detailed deliberations, the committee approved several developmental works through the RKS, including:

Channeling and fencing of the waste disposal area

Digging of a new waste disposal pit

Installation of aluminium partitions and furniture for the simulation section

Fixing of stainless-steel doors on the first floor
-
Maintenance of ambulances

Fabrication of shelves and racks in the newly constructed drug store

Repair of the anesthesia workstation and other damaged medical equipment
Additionally, the committee approved the procurement of essential supplies under RKS to ensure the hospital’s smooth functioning.
The CEC directed the CMO and Medical Superintendent to enhance patient awareness about cleanliness and ensure that medical staff maintain a compassionate and patient-friendly approach. He also instructed them to install a portable microphone system to broadcast pre-recorded messages promoting hygiene and hospital guidelines for visitors.
Dr. Akhoon further emphasized maintaining cleanliness within the premises, directing that dustbins be placed in all washrooms and toilets to prevent littering.
Reaffirming his commitment to improving healthcare delivery in the district, Dr. Akhoon assured that the administration will continue to strengthen medical infrastructure and patient care facilities in Kargil to ensure accessible and quality healthcare for all.
