Akhoon graces Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Celebrations as Chief Guest

K argil, October 31, 2025: The Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) celebrations were held with great patriotic fervor at District Police Lines, Kargil, marking the 150th birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The Hon’ble Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The event commenced with a ceremonial parade by the Paramilitary Forces, Ladakh Police, and NCC cadets and students of Mutahhary Public School. The celebrations aimed to reaffirm the spirit of national integration, unity, and collective resolve towards nation-building.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Akhoon extended heartfelt congratulations on behalf of the LAHDC Kargil for organizing Rashtriya Ekta Diwas and paid glowing tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for his unparalleled contribution to the unification of India. He emphasized that the celebration of this day reminds every citizen of the importance of unity, integrity, and dedication toward the nation’s progress.

Highlighting India’s rich spiritual, linguistic, and cultural heritage, the Hon’ble CEC remarked that the country’s diversity is one of its greatest strengths. He reaffirmed LAHDC Kargil’s commitment to preserving and promoting local culture, languages, handicrafts, and indigenous products, encouraging people to prefer local produce, handicrafts, and handloom items as part of the “Vocal for Local” initiative.

Dr. Akhoon also lauded the efforts of Senior Superintendent of Police Kargil, Shri Ram R., and the entire Ladakh Police team for their people-friendly approach, effective law and order management, and consistent fight against the drug menace in the district. He further appreciated the role of religious organizations in promoting moral education and social harmony through awareness and counselling.
