Dras : Community Radio Station (CRS) Dras 90.4 FM successfully conducted a two-week Internship Programme for students of Government Degree College, Dras, under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, marking a significant step towards youth empowerment in high-altitude regions.
Supported by the Indian Army, the programme focused on community development and skill-building in remote areas. Twelve undergraduate students from BA, BSc and BCom streams underwent nearly 60 hours of intensive hands-on training in community radio operations, studio management, audio recording and editing, script writing, radio programming, RJ skills and field reporting.
Participants reported noticeable improvement in their communication abilities, technical skills and self-confidence. Faculty members lauded the internship for its well-structured, outcome-oriented design and strong practical exposure.
The initiative not only enhanced the outreach and impact of CRS Dras but also strengthened civil–military–academic collaboration in the region. Given its success, the programme has been recommended for continuation on an annual basis.
