Leh : The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has ordered the transfer of IAS officer Baseer-ul-Haq Chaudhary from Jammu and Kashmir to the Union Territory of Ladakh with immediate effect.
The transfer has been effected as part of a broader reshuffle of AGMUT cadre officers, approved by the competent authority, according to an official order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on January 4, 2026.
Baseer-ul-Haq Chaudhary, who is presently serving in Jammu and Kashmir, has been posted to Ladakh until further orders.
IAS officer Shurbir Singh has also been transferred to Ladakh from Delhi, making them the two officers posted to the Union Territory under the latest transfer order.
The postings form part of a large-scale administrative reshuffle involving several IAS and IPS officers across Union Territories and States under the AGMUT cadre, aimed at strengthening administrative capacity and meeting governance requirements.
As per the same order, several officers currently serving in Ladakh have been transferred out of the Union Territory. IAS officer Sanjeev Khirwar has been moved from Ladakh to Delhi, while Michael M. D’Souza has been transferred from Ladakh to Goa.
The reshuffle reflects the Centre’s continued efforts to ensure optimal deployment of officers across strategically and administratively important regions, including Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
