Kargil: After Leh, the district of Kargil is set to begin the revision of the Panchayat Electoral Rolls starting 21st July 2025.
The move comes under the direction of the Union Territory Administration of Ladakh, following communication from the Election Commission for Union Territories.
The Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Kargil, who is also the Electoral Registration Officer, has issued instructions to all Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (Block Development Officers) to make necessary preparations for the electoral roll revision.
The schedule, provided by the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department, outlines the process of additions, deletions, corrections, and transpositions of voter information.
The draft Panchayat Electoral Roll will be displayed on 21st July in Form PER-1. Citizens can file claims and objections from 21st July to 18th August 2025. To facilitate this, special camps will be held at polling booth locations on 26th and 27th July, as well as 2nd and 3rd August. During these camps, Panchayat Election Booth Officers, including VLWs, MPWs, GRS, and Assembly BLOs, will be available to assist the public.
The UT Administration has emphasized the importance of public participation and has directed that the schedule be widely publicized through print, electronic, and social media platforms.
The process aims to ensure a transparent and accurate voter list in preparation for the upcoming Panchayat elections across the Union Territory of Ladakh.
