KARGIL: In order to ensure Food Safety and in the Interest of public all the vendors whole sellers and retailers of chicken in district Kargil, shall ensure the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), as issued by the District Administration.
SOPs include:
All the vendors stocking frozen products should have adequate and sufficient cold storage space as per the prescribed Food Safety Standard rules.
The storage facility must have appropriate equipment and system In place to maintain the recommended storage temperature for frozen chicken to prevent bacterial growth and maintain product quality.
The storage facility should adhere to strict cleanliness and sanitation practices. This includes regular cleaning and disinfection of storage areas, equipment, and surfaces to prevent cross contamination and the growth of harmful microorganisms.
Frozen Chicken Stored for sale during winter season shall be procured only from FSSAI Certified Suppliers.
As transportation Is concerned the frozen items shall be allowed only In refrigerated trucks /containers maintaining the prescribed temperature as per Food Safety and standard lines.
Frozen chicken should be properly packaged to prevent contamination and maintain product
quality. Packaging materials should be suitable for freezing conditions and provide an effective barrier against moisture, air, and potential contaminants.
As per the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act the vendors shall produce Lab
Testing certificates of the frozen chicken items once in six months through NABL Accredited Lab or FSSAI Notified Lab.
Food safety Officers/Officials of the Food Safety Department along with the Market checking squad in place shall collect samples of frozen Chicken and other products sold in the market
regularly for analytical test as per Food Safety norms.
Strict action should be taken against the violators of the mentioned SOPs as per the provisions of Food Safety and Standards acts and rules.
