Kargil: Acting CEC and Executive Councillor for Tourism, LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Mohd Feroz, Wednesday chaired a review meeting regarding the preparation for the upcoming Suru Festival 2025.
EC Agriculture and Social Welfare, Aga Syed Mujtaba, Director Tourism, Kunzes Angmo, Councillors in LAHDC Kargil; Nasir Hussain Munshi, Aga Syed Ali, Abdul Hadi and Sajjad Khan, Deputy Secretary LAACL, AD Tourism Kargil, President AKTTA, besides a team from Ernst and Young (E&Y), were present during the meeting.
During the meeting, threadbare deliberation and discussion were conducted after the PowerPoint presentation was presented by the team of E&Y.
In the meeting, details regarding locations, dates and activities related to the Suru festival were discussed, where valuable suggestions and ideas were forwarded by concerned stakeholders and public representatives.
The meeting also discussed about the destination promotion, advertisements, inviting influencers and tour operators for the event, besides the process of tendering and management agency for the conduct of the event.
EC Feroz directed to explore the tendering process for the event management agency at the earliest. He added that promotion and advertisement of the event should start at the earliest.
The meeting was informed that major activities such as paragliding, hot air balloon, rafting and mountaineering are proposed for the event at different destinations of Suru Valley.
Besides various other important aspects of the event were discussed, such as inviting influencers, tour operators, the team from Guinness World Records and the National Geographic Editorial team.
Kacho Mohd Feroz said that local stakeholders should receive maximum benefits of the event, besides all ways and measures should be taken for the successful conduct of the event so that it can be turned into a calendar event every year.
Pertinent to mention, follow-up meetings will be held tomorrow and the day after tomorrow related to the Suru Festival 2025.
