Kargil: Acting Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Mohd Feroz chaired a crucial meeting to review and expedite measures aimed at addressing traffic congestion in Kargil town.
A major focus of the discussion was the early completion of the vital link road connecting the newly constructed Iqbal Bridge, which is expected to significantly ease traffic pressure in the area. Additionally, the Acting CEC directed priority attention towards the construction of a new link road near Fatima Chowk, which has been identified as a critical point for decongesting the town’s central traffic bottleneck.
The Acting CEC stressed that effective traffic management is a serious concern for the district, and called upon the concerned departments to explore viable alternatives to improve vehicular movement and pedestrian safety across Kargil town.
The meeting witnessed the presence of key officials including Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Imteeaz Kacho, Councillor Town Haji Mohd Abass, Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Jahangeer Akhone, Executive Engineer R&B, Sadiq Ali, Executive Officer, MC Kargil, Arifa Iqbal, and officials from the Revenue Department.
The Acting CEC directed all departments to ensure inter-departmental coordination and timely execution of road development works, while also stressing the need for regular monitoring to avoid unnecessary delays.
