Leh: In a significant political development aimed at strengthening Ladakh’s collective struggle, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Leh district leadership on Tuesday submitted the dissolution of its district-level unit to the President of Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA), Ka Tsering. The decision was conveyed by District Convenor Male Ka Tsetan and Female Achay Tashi Lamo in response to the LBA President’s call for all political parties in Ladakh to dissolve and unite under the Apex Body.
AAP Leh leaders lauded the LBA President for his steadfast support to Ladakh’s cause and said the move reflects the urgency of unity at a time when the region has witnessed immense sacrifices. They recalled that five people have lost their lives, many have been injured, and several Ladakhis—including Sonam Wangchok—are currently in jail while fighting for constitutional safeguards.
Accepting the appeal in principle, AAP Leh District announced the dissolution of its party unit, subject to key conditions. These include simultaneous dissolution of all political parties in Leh district, an uncompromising stand on the inclusion of Ladakh under the Sixth Schedule, and continued commitment to the demands of Statehood and constitutional protection. The party also asserted that no political group should be revived if alternative safeguards are offered by the Ministry of Home Affairs until the Sixth Schedule demand is fulfilled.
AAP further stated that even after dissolution, some of its members would represent the party within the Apex Body to ensure active participation in the collective movement.
The conditions, AAP said, were submitted in good faith to strengthen public trust and reinforce unity for Ladakh’s long-pending demands.
