Leh, July 08: The Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson presided over the closing ceremony of the Intermediate Mountaineering Course (IMC) 2022 which was conducted in Leh recently. Executive Councillor for Minority Affairs, Ghulam Mehdi, Councillor Thiksey, Stanzin Chosphel, and DYSSO Leh, Tsering Tashi were also present during the occasion.
While addressing the gathering CEC Gyalson congratulated Mountaineer Skalzang Rigzin, the president of LMGA for successfully summiting Mt. Lhotse and Mt. Annapurna in Nepal without additional oxygen. He also spoke of LAHDC Leh’s initiative of providing world-class equipment to the mountaineers soon as an encouragement to them. He also highlighted the need to preserve adventure tourism in Ladakh and stressed the need to formulate policies and regulate the influx of tourism in Ladakh given the fragile ecosystem of the region.
Officials of LMGA expressed their gratitude to all the supporters, trainers, and participants for the successful conduct of the workshop. All of them were felicitated by the dignitaries in the end.
The workshop was conducted by Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA) an affiliate of the International Federation of Mountain Guide Association (IFMGA) in collaboration with Ladakh Mountain Guide Association (LMGA).
