Khaltse, May 11: In a major initiative to strengthen grassroots governance and public engagement, the newly established Sham District witnessed a joint public outreach programme organised by the Police and Civil Administration on Monday.
The programme brought together representatives from various organisations, including LBA, political parties, Women Alliance groups, LAS, religious bodies, and village Lambardars, for direct interaction with district officials on issues concerning law and order, civic amenities, and developmental needs.
Addressing the gathering, Kunzes Angmo assured the public that extensive tours across all villages of the district would be undertaken to ensure developmental initiatives reach every corner of the region effectively.
Senior Superintendent of Police Aijaz Malik reiterated the department’s commitment towards a “people-friendly” policing system and emphasized round-the-clock accessibility for ensuring public safety. He also assured the gathering that he would personally visit villages across the district to better understand local concerns and further strengthen police-public relations.
The Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Khaltse briefed attendees about various ongoing developmental works in the subdivision, while the SHO Police Station Khaltsi highlighted efforts related to crime prevention, particularly the campaign against drug abuse in the area.
Local leaders expressed gratitude to the UT Administration, especially the DGP, Chief Secretary, and Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, for the creation of Sham District, describing it as a landmark step towards improved administrative accessibility and accelerated regional development.
Officials assured the public that all grievances and issues raised during the public Darbar would be addressed in a timely manner, emphasizing that public cooperation remains essential for maintaining peace, harmony, and progress in the district.
