Leh, May 05: In a deeply spiritual offering, around 100 students from Druk Padma Karpo School presented a Chöd prayer ceremony at Jivetsal Choglamsar on the fourth day of the ongoing exposition of the sacred relics of Gautama Buddha.
The performance brought a unique spiritual depth to the occasion, blending meditation, chant, and ritual music in line with the ancient Vajrayana Buddhist practice of Chöd—literally meaning “cutting through,” symbolizing the overcoming of ego and fear.
Rooted in the Perfection of Wisdom tradition and associated with the revered Tibetan yogini Machig Labdrön, Chöd practice emphasizes compassion and realization of non-self through symbolic offering rituals.
The students’ presentation not only enriched the spiritual ambience of the exposition but also highlighted the younger generation’s role in preserving Ladakh’s rich Buddhist heritage, drawing appreciation from devotees and attendees present at the sacred gathering.
